Fishing in Haywood County


Cast your line in the waters of Haywood County where the fish flow with our rivers and streams. With various spots to fly your reel you can have access to our backyard in a matter of minutes. We have both cold water game fish along with warm.

Mountain Heritage Trout Waters

The Mountain Heritage Trout Waters Program was established by the NC General Assembly in 2007 as a means to encourage trout fishing as a heritage tourism activity. Maggie Valley is designated as one of five Mountain Heritage Trout Cities in this pilot program.

Residents and vistors will be able to purchase a 3-day, $5.00 fishing license to fish in the designated Mountain Heritage Trout Waters. There are no additional license requirements for fishing in Mountain Heritage Waters. This special 3-day license can be purchased at the Maggie Valley Chamber of Commerce located at 2961 Soco Road or online at www.ncwildlife.org or by telephone

Sunburst Trout Farm

In the shadow of Cold Mountain deep in the heart of Pisgah National Forest of Western North Carolina lies Sunburst Trout Farm. Established in 1948, it has evolved to what it is today, one of the most unique trout production sites in the Country.
