13th Annual Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam

Bluegrass fans in the mountains of Western North Carolina and else where are looking favorably o the number 13 these days, because this is the year of the 13th annual Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam. A whole some family event, the Bluegrass Jam brings music and local culture together for the purpose of supporting the education of youth. Proceeds benefit a college scholarship fund for local students.

Sponsored by the Fines Creek Community Association, the Bluegrass Jam takes place the weekend before Labor Day. This year’s concerts are scheduled August 27 and 28, rain or shine. On Friday, music begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until midnight. Saturday events are scheduled from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Steve Brown backed by his band, Hurricane Ridge, is the MC for both nights.

Ticket prices are $15 for adults for one night or $25 for both nights. Teenagers (ages 12-15) will be charged $7 per night with children under age 12 admitted free with paying adult. Those attending are asked to take their own lawn chairs or blankets. A limited number of chairs will be available for rent. In case of rain, large canopy tents will provide cover for the audience. Food and drinks will be sold on the school grounds. Tables will be set up in the cafeteria for those who would like to eat indoors.

The Fines Creek Bluegrass Jam is held on the grounds of the old Fines Creek School, 190 Fines Creek Road, Clyde, NC, approximately 4 miles east of Exit 15 off Interstate 40.
